Jiazhen Ling researches how buildings use energy, with a goal to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. He models energy use both through physics and through operational data, and then simulates alternative scenarios (at scales from single buildings to whole cities) to study the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings, occupants’ thermal comfort, and impacts on public health. Jiazhen is the institutional lead at National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
