Shirley Clark
Water and Water Quality Theme Team Lead
Acting Director, School of Science, Engineering, and Technology, Penn State University
Shirley Clark works at the intersection of water, climate, and public health, with a focus on the “wicked” challenge that society faces with the stress of urban growth and decaying infrastructure intersecting with climate change and vulnerable communities. She studies how the more intense storms and longer dry periods are affecting the ability of stormwater infrastructure to capture and retain pollutants, as well as how floods due to rainfall are affecting human health and urban infrastructure.
